Pedestal

You stand there on your pedestal
Hurling abuse at me - telling me I'm no good
That I'm of no use to anyone.
But have you even heard a word I've said?
Do you even listen when I speak?

You stand there on your pedestal
Telling me how great you are, how sincere & noble
Yet you belittle me every chance you get
You stamp your feet all over me
The way you'd wipe your feet on a doormat.

Well, you can stand there on your pedestal
Preaching to the world, but I know the truth...
I'm worth more than you say
I can take your abuse
I have more morals than you!

You can stand there on your pedestal
Acting all high & mighty
I don't need a pedestal to stand on
Nor a throne to sit upon, I know my worth
And I know I'm worth more than that!
