2 Masa’il 163 B.E. - December 12, 2006 "Invalid Item" "Invalid Entry" Sesame Street is being sued and The Lorax by Doctor Seuss was placed on the banned books list. The reason for placing Doctor Seuss’ book on the list was just as inane (OH, wait a minute, I can be sued for saying someone’s reason for dong something is inane can’t I). The Lorax apparently “criminalizes the forest industry”. Now while I’ve never read The Lorax I did see the made for T.V. cartoon and I remember it warning against massive deforestation, but criminalizing an entire industry. I don’t think so! Even though I don’t have children, nephews, nieces, or grandchildren living in my home, I do watch Sesame Street once in a while and at random intervals. It doesn’t encourage a “sedentary lifestyle", actually the only type of lifestyle it encourages is a learning lifestyle. Now we come to my biggest grip about the human race – People don’t want to take responsibility for themselves, their emotions, or a number of other things that fall under the heading of personal responsibility. I know, we can blame Adam and Eve for that. If the parents of the human race had taken responsibility for their choice of eating the apple, we’d still be in Eden and wouldn’t have to take any responsibility at all, because everything would be given to us. Actually, come to think of it, the only one who received blamed for that little incident was Eve. However, I think there is more to the story of Adam and Eve than we know. After all, the story of Eden is included in, at least, three different Holy Books. In addition, I think it’s time humanity stopped blaming Eve and Adam and took responsible for it’s self, but if we take responsibility for ourselves than law suits will be cut drastically. We will also have to admit we have problems and get help. Now that I have gotten on my soapbox, I think I will carefully step down and move on to something else. I still have a discussion board to finish, which I intend to post sometime tonight or early in the morning. |
