Bases are available in clear, white and a number of specialty bases such as Goats Milk, Olive oil, cucumber and mint, oatmeal to name a few.
The best bases are made with vegetable oils and do not have alchol or wax fillers in them. These additivers can greatly affect the fragrance and look of your finished soap.

Colorants

Soap colors are available in many different forms.
Solid color can be cut into very small slivers and added to the melted soap before it is poured in the molds. A potatoe peeler works great for this.
Liquid color concentrates can be added a drop at a time to the melted soap. Stir after each drop is added until you find the shade you want. Some color concentrates will bleed into the other colors over time. It is best to check the manufactures recommendations. Cosmetic grade glitter can be added for a special effect.

Adding fragrance is a significant part of making your soap. Fragrances can help reflect the mood of your soap. There are so many wonderful smelling fragrances avaiaable that you might have a hard time decideing which one to use.
