The moon is blue ice The moon is blue ice, an ocean frozen by your stare. The fire's hidden deep within. It's there you'll find the turquoise of denial, carnelian wound that flowers 'cross the drifted snow. What can you know of icicles in tropic climes. It mimes deception, shows a placid face, a smile in frozen rime. 'é a lua, é a lua, na quintana dos mortos' ♣ Federico García Lorca ♣ The New Day Naw-Ruz = New Day. Today is the beginning of the Baha'i year 164. It began with the setting of the sun on the 20th. It is a Holy Day and I would take off work when I was working. Hard to explain sometimes to bosses who didn't understand faiths other than the one they grew up in. The first month is Bahá = Splendor and the first day is also Bahá. So today is the day of Splendor of the month of Splendor of the first day of the year 164 B.E. My new writing goals: 3 per 2 days or 500/year. More meagre than last year when I wanted to reach 700. I managed 608, more-or-less. WRITING Wrote more for "Laura by moonlight". Have jotted down notes for poems. Just need to write them out. Recent blog poems now separate items: "Plain cover jacket" , "In search of Iris" , "Crow feathers" , "Like water for chocolate," , "Love-lies-bleeding" , and "Spear" . Me, my friends and my family No energy on Tuesday. If I can get up on time I'm off to Topeka on Wednesday morning. In 2003, I called my friend Gary from Okmulgee, Oklahoma on what would've been my father's 87th birthday. Later I called my mother from in front of the house where he grew up. Good memory. Couldn't reach my friends today. Perhaps tomorrow? Went to Topeka. It is the first time I've ever been in state capitol building. I had heard about the murals. The one of John Brown is quite famous. Got to speak to our senator, Marci Francisco. Got to see Lorraine honored as Miss Wheelchair 2007. Had a great time talking to Ana in Spanish (on the way and back ). Met Lennie from Emporia who told me about living possibilities there and Bill from Parsons who spoke of Sedan. A short daily prayer I bear witness, O my God, that Thou hast created me to know Thee and to worship Thee. I testify, at this moment, to my powerlessness and to Thy might, to my poverty and to Thy wealth. There is none other God but Thee, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting. — Bahá’u’lláh http://reference.bahai.org/en/t/c/BP/bp-4.html WATT'S GNU! Lose it; find it. So what if it took 50 years! Every day now: Rabbits-after-dark. Sparrows everywhere. The song of the lonesome robin. Outside Aimee's: cold concrete planter; rustle of a plastic bag; drone of cars over asphalt, crossing brick; soft shuffle of shoes; the everpresent cigarette butts. Inside Aimee's: two youth huddled over chess; a family of three reading; French Circle speaking French; Alex cutting vegetables. Looking south from the Capitol's steps: a big elm tree in bloom; flags snapping in the breeze. The weather is Spring-like, damp. Cloudy today but it was warm this morning.
