Unter die Weißulme

Open Arms of December
beckon the Rain to come.
Upswept Fingers move with the Breeze,
weave a Lullaby of Thoughts.
In Autumn's last lingering Light,
Moisture caresses pallid Skin,
that pleads for Sun's Return
and the solstice Dance begins.
Arms beg the Clouds to open up
stretch out to shadowed Sky.
Unter die Weißulme all is calm.
Prayers rise. Rain comes.

(The last blog entry poem is now edited as a separate r/r item: "ParadiseOpen in new Window.)

My life

Sunday: in the high 80s. Went to a poetry reading by Prof. Johnson. Talked to Ray at Henry's about chess. Had a nice discussion with Jessica and Erica (poet) afterwards; Got out two more China Bayle's mysteries from the library; called Aunt Dot. Was inspired to write.

Sabres lost hockey game Sunday, but still on top; will still send friend the hockey limerick I wrote on Saturday, "Prompt #26: Bye-Bye Jagr"  Open in new Window.. I cooked myself a burger ... does that count?

Made room in my portfolio by removing 4 old poems only reviewed once (copy-pasted the reviews). Now I have to decide on replacements.

At KMA community garden: potatoes, peas; the garden tilled and ready

At Headhunter's: Rue ready to bloom in yellow; lily of the valley; red and white frilled tulips; blue bugleweed; purple columbine; larkspur 2 foot tall; iris in shades of pale indigo and lavender; white daisy; peony buds showing a red promise.

On Kentucky to 8th: quince blooming red; cool shade; a wisp of a plume in the north.

Unter die Ulme: on the way ... brown-pink iris and red azalea; branches that spread upward then outward then swoop towards the ground; green leaves and bare trees; stone, brick, wood houses; trembling shadows; birdsong; a distant hum; warm southern breeze; starling; blue framed by dendritic green (like the mouth of the Nile); a sterile carpet of grass, no weeds.
