The City Never Sleeps
The day is gone,
The sun has fled,
the night has come again.
The stars are out,
The moon is high,
All children are in bed.
The dogs are barking endlessly,
The sirens blare and blast.
The city never sleeps it seems.
Down town the music carries on,
The drunks will roam the streets.
The darkness hides all sins.
The rich inside their fancy cars,
Drive past without a care.
The alleyways have eyes.
They watch the city wallowing
In slime pits full of muck.
They wait for unsuspecting men
Then spring to the attack.
The wail of fear, the smell of death,
A sound of fleeing feet.
The sirens will be growing loud,
But far too late it seems.
The City laughs with evil mirth,
It victims held so tight.
The City never sleeps it seems.
But now I must... Good night.
