Bahh Humbug!
This year my family and I are not exchanging gifts. We simply haven't had the desire to go shopping or celebrate the holiday. Everyone tells you to keep the traditions going after losing a loved one but the first holiday after a death is the worst. My stepmother is isolating herself and would never make plans so my sister and I are spending the holiday together at her house. We don't want anything from each other so our gift will be the time we will have together. Maybe we will tell stories about Daddy since he will most likely be on our minds all day.
I know my father is in a better place and he deserves to be. He was a good man. He and mother are together after all these years and that does comfort me.
One thing I have realized. It hurts just as bad to lose someone when you are grown as it does when you are a kid. Maybe more.
