Star Trek in my heart!
I guess that I have not mentioned in my blogs that I love to read science fiction. I am a devoted Star Trek fan. I have watched all of them since the first Original Series forty years or more ago. I have all of the the DVDs. (Yes all of them!) I have gone to conventions. I have read in the Star Trek website that a tour will actually bring some fantastic promotion to my home town. Weeeee! I will be in heaven on earth at that time. If anyone sees me walking around with pointed ears, or a Star Fleet uniform on at that time, they better not make fun of me or I will zap them with my phaser. It's only a dummy phaser so no one will really dissolve.
I have bought about 200 books to read. There are books for each of the five series and some of them are quite good. Some use the guest star characters that were in some of the series so there is a great deal of continuance there. I don't know why the people in the series didn't use some of the ideas that the fans or writers had.
The thing that made me sad was that they or the powers that had all of the control cancelled the last series, Star Trek: Enterprise. It was fairly good. Many people objected to the canon faux pas but since the series was new maybe some writer could have found a way to explain the error/problem. Other objections were with the actors. Now this is where I draw the line. I think that after four years the group of actors had gelled into a nice group. I even will go on record to say that I think the actor tapped for Captain Archer, Scott Bakula was fine. He did his job as actor and star ship captain. Those who complained I feel were jealous of his popularity and good looks. So the show was on air just long enough to go into syndication. It looks like the almighty dollar was the only thing that the 'power people' cared about.
Well, as I said the show is gone. The set and some of the important pieces were auctioned off so the company could make $$$$. The only thing left is the fact that there is a movie in the making. If that flubs, then Star Trek may be gone for good. What a shame. I have written my feelings on the message boards for the website so I will not reiterate them here. The only thing left to say is,

"LIVE LONG AND PROSPER STAR TREK. YOU WERE THE BEST!"
