Current Reading (weel kist past)
Read Sapphira's Grave a few days ago: a literate, literary unfolding of the legacy of African slavery throughout generations in the New World. An incredibly powerful free woman of Sierra Leone in the 18th century, captured and transferred to a slave ship, undergoing terrible hardship, yet survives and the story follows her daughters through generations to the present. A deep examination of character, both female and male, and a metaphysical aura makes this a compelling short novel.
