silly conversation
New York this weekend, for Tina's birthday. The best time yet, certainly, but I think I realized, during her party, that it's time to start cleansing. Any consumption of alcohol, at this point, is nothing more or less than shameless self-medicating. So I'm back on the water diet this week.

That said, no conversation is silly when you're drunk enough.

Over unlimited mimosas at brunch, Ashley, who is infirm with a torn ACL, straight-facedly quoted Oprah about five times in rapid succession. We accepted this without question.

Similarly, at the party, Julian, whose flirtation I had to ignore two months ago because of Justin, nestled up next to me and said, "There's something I've been wanting to do since the first time I met you."

"What?" I yelled over the thud of a U2 song. It was Tina's birthday. I was so drunk that I honestly did not know what he was going to do. But I'm sure you do.

My first kiss since Justin and I barely remember it.
