Dec 21 2008 Global Warming

Frankly, there are so many things that are happening right now, like political unrest and hunger, joblessness, etc. and I keep wondering if Global Warming isn't us humans thinking we have control over our atmosphere.  Some years its cold and some its hot. I'm not saying its not real but I think some of the "popular" fixes for the environment may have problems down the line also.  For example, the hybrid car uses a battery that requires the use of mercury.  It has a halflife much longer than diesel.  We do need to be aware but perhaps we humans really don't have as much control as we thought.  However, if thinking that we are doing good for the environment moves us to take better care of our planet in general, its worth it.  I just hope folks aren't out there driving hybrids and littering on the side of the road.  The fact is, we were born and by nature or nurture, we latch onto a cause or we are more sensitive to one partucular cause and not so much another.  If those who are drawn toward this cause will focus on it and do their best to further the cause, and those of us who weren't drawn to it use our talents where they are directed, the earth would be at balance b/c we all will take care of some portion of it and all will be well.  So if this is your "Thing" do your best to help the planet in your own way.
