The following letter is one I wrote to my dad back in 1999. Pop has since passed away (3/08/07), I just wanted to share my thoughts with you. Thanks. Jeff 6/20/99 Pop, As I make my way through life I sit and wonder many times on how fortunate I was to have been able to be raised through my childhood and teen years in such a loving environment. Being able to have a Pop to love and always be there in my life for love and support. I just wanted to take a few moments and reflect on a few of the precious values in life that I feel I have inherited from YOU. Love My Wife And Daughters - As you have always done with Mom and all your Sons, everyday of your Life. Display Affection In Public To My Family - Never a moment can I ever recall you did not kiss and hug all of your sons in private and public. Quality Time With My Wife And Daughters - I never remember a time we did not go on a Vacation as a Family. Religious Values - Remembering so many times you repeating the Hail Mary while cooking a breakfast in the kitchen and also faithfully going to Mass every weekend. Talking To My Parents Every Day - This one is special to me because I always admired the way you called Gram Griffis everyday and made a special effort to care for her. Dedicated To My Work - You always dragged yourself to work no matter if you were ill or your back went out. You were always dedicated to be a Provider for your Family. My Love For Dogs - This one has definitely proven to be a fact over the past few months. Thank you for always letting us have a dog while we were growing up. Successful And Happy Marriage - You have shown me the joy of what a Husband and Wife can accomplish after 60 Plus years of Marriage. Well Pop, I hope by now you are getting the message, which is, because of you, I am the man I am today and if I am anywhere close to walking in your footsteps as a Husband / Father than I have accomplished my goals. Thank you Pop for being there for me in the Past / Present and Future. I Love You Very Much. Happy Fathers Day !!!! JEFF |
