The Continuing Saga of Prosperous Snow |
Lately I’ve been thinking about my father. I remember a tall man. I remember a handsome man. I remember sitting on my father’s lap on Sunday morning while he drink coffee and read the Sunday comics to me. I remember pulling Dad’s cup of hot coffee onto my lap. I don’t remember the pain of the burning coffee, but I do remember Dad rushing me to the hospital. Lately I’ve been thinking about my father and the good times I had with him before my parents were divorced. I remember going to the Kay County fair with Dad. I remember Dad carrying me on his shoulders. I remember Dad coming home from his job at the Zinc smelter all dirty and waiting while he took a bath to wash the grim off before dinner. I remember the aroma of my Dad’s aftershave lotion. Lately I’ve been thinking about my father. I remember Daddy liked jelly on his hot cakes. I remember Daddy liked coffee, I don’t remember whether he like coffee black or with cream and sugar. I remember eating breakfast with Daddy. I remember eating supper with Daddy. I remember eating lunch with Daddy on the weekends when he didn’t work. Lately I’ve been thinking about my father. I remember finding out about his death by reading his obituary on the Internet. Lately I’ve been thinking about my father and seeking closure. |
