Comments on Stephen King's UNDER THE DOME
It took me 5 evenings to read this 1072-page book; I, who often read 2-3 books a day . I'd waited 8 months to read this book, since I first read notice of its publication. I'm not sorry I read it, but for those who do not enjoy graphically gory descriptions, beware. Also for those who are emotionally empathetic, beware as well. I read the final 85 pages bawling my eyes out, I who seldom shed a tear at the death of a beloved character. Yesterday afternoon I simply could not help myself; it was overkill for my tear ducts.
I found elements of The Stand, Regulators, Desperation, and even The Cell and Tommyknockers, all books by Mr. King. Under the Dome falls into the category of those novels; NOT into the category I call Stephen King's Literary Fiction: Bag of Bones, Lisey's Story, Duma Key, and possibly Dreamcatcher.
