Wheel of Fortune

Justice

Pulled the justice card for this week. I try to meditate on this card and bring its associations to bear on what is occurring in my life.

Yesterday the headlines of our local paper was about the arrest of someone we have known as an acquaintance.....arrested for lewd and lascivious behavior with a minor. I had been told when we first met that he and his wife were dealing with marital issues related to pornography.....but presumably everything was resolved because he had been "born again". I'm not going to get into that discussion....only that the Justice card is about karma.....our deeds do follow us.....evil exists and our shadow passions often rule us.

I have been listening to Caroline Myss' CD, "Defy Gravity"...and have found her explorations of the 7 shadow passions and the accompanying 7 Graces to be profound and deeply meaningful.

Evil exists, in ourselves, in others....it does no good to cover over our shadows and darkness and pretend they are not there. It takes courage, discipline, and fortitude to then stand and call upon the light of grace and God to redeem and transform ourselves.

Then perhaps the scales of Justice may be balanced.

All is certainty. Mary Oliver
