Hiroshima 2010
To repeat Mandy's quote at FB: "You can preach a better sermon with your life than with your lips." Well... I'm a poet so lips must count for something!
Hiroshima, 2010
As vivid as white light that seared the sky,
as dark as blackened rains that followed
that day, this place where memory endures
lest we forget our past tomorrow.
Before stark spires our aspirations soar
where shadows reached out, etched in time,
beneath the feet of gathered nations
where silent ashes beg us sign:
to sky, to rain, to sun and moon,
what happened here brings forth a peace that blooms.
Still needs work, but it is based upon a comment by Ban Ki-moon, "For many of you, that day endures as vivid as the white light that seared the sky, as dark as the black rains that followed." Hiroshima, August 2010.
Poets of the American West. Must get through most by Thursday! Already read the poems from Montana, Wyoming and Idaho. Working on Nevada.
Gentle rains and pleasant temps in Missoula.
