Across the Universe
I've never been a big Beatles fan but there is something about that song that comforts me. The melody is moving and the verses, penned most likely, under the influence of good, mind-altering drugs, blend with the music in a very appealing, poetic way. Music is one of the remedies I turn to for my ills. There are moments when my soul needs the grinding, metallic burn of Saliva or Papa Roach to soothe me. Other times beg for the brooding and hauntingly melodic Cowboy Junkies. My media player is chocked full of inconsistancies and variety that borders on ridiculous. The Indigo Girls share the same playlists as Buck Cherry and a twangy country jive, a Santana tune will often follow something by Bare Naked Ladies...and so on. The complexity of my musical choices pleases me.
