Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills. |
I'm reading Book 13 of the Wheel of Time by Jordan/Sanderson. I like the way the chapters go back and forth between the main characters in this one. Although, as usual, I could use a better index. Half-way through. ME: It's thawing out there... feels so much better than bitter cold. Very pleasant when there isn't any wind. A few rays of sun this morning, a few flakes. Grey at the moment. Days are definitely getting longer. At some point the dreariness breaks. May wait awhile this year. La Niña years are wetter. And with the cold that equals snow. We are over an inch up in precipitation since January 1st and snowpack is holding well. Good for skiing now and later for trout come spring. Time to think about going for long walks. But, I do believe I should've just hibernated. Or stayed in Costa Rica. Next filmfest, remind me to call Dustin to ask whether he wants to go. His reason for not going? Financial. I could easily have bought him a ticket. Easy-peasy as Mandy would say. Trying not to get down. I miss the days of coffee/tea/canasta around Carol's kitchen table. Yes, I hang out in the cafes; yes, I force myself out to go to lunch at the Senior Center (today was stroganoff); yes, I went to a reading last night. But... it just isn't enough. I guess I need more conversation. Time to invite Dustin and maybe a couple neighbors over... I used to have parties. I haven't had anyone over for coffee since I moved to Montana. In Kansas I had friends over a couple times; but, it's been almost 8 years since I've hosted a gathering. Far too long. So... feeling a bit down. Fortunately, I have a book to read and other reading material stacked and waiting. Wish me luck! And I've begun to look at bus trips for Spring. 21,223 |
