Aging Like Wine
Good day, my name is Steve and I'm a new author here at Writing.com. I joined the site for many reasons: needing an outlet for my writing ambitions; looking for inspirado when my well is running dry; reading the work of other authors. But the main reason I'm here, writing at this time in history, is my lovely girlfriend jadelette. She bought an upgraded subscription for me on this website where I had been a non-active member for the last few months. Thanks to her, I'm now forced to take my writing a little more seriously and start showing her and the other members of this cool community what I'm made of. Now without further ado, I bring you...

Something Blog!

Another blog, really? How many times have I started one of these over the years? Many a blog of mine has been started and left to decay, lost in the endless info-blob that is the internet. Within months, and more often within weeks, I've lost the desire to log in and post a new entry into a blog that nobody reads. But this time someone's financing this thing, at least for the year! So this one is just going to be for myself. If anyone happens to hop on the wagon and enjoys the ride, that's cool too.

There's nothing like celebrating the New Year in a strange culture. Sitting in a cramped, smoky bar with drunkards wailing away in front of a karaoke screen would not have been my first choice, but when you're in a small southeast China city you don't have much of a choice. At least they had some good foreign beers on tap. Erdinger Weissbier was my choice of drink for the evening. I sat at a tiny table near the front door with two other foreigners, my girlfriend to my left and a co-worker across from me. We were so busy holding our ears and giggling at the terrible entertainment that we had not noticed midnight slipping by. In fact, there was no countdown like there had been at other clubs in China. After one beer and couple quick games of pick-up-sticks, we paid our tab and headed home.

For New Year's Day, I relaxed and sat down to write some resolutions. Here are the highlights:

-Post a weekly blog article

-Post my writing weekly at WDC

-Learn more about writing and recording music

-Write and record one complete song

-Get back to studying yoga

-Read at least one book per month

-Finish my TESOL certification

-Quit accepting and smoking cigarettes at Chinese bars

-Become an 'early riser'

-Cook a meal at least once per month

-Go for a long bike ride at least once per month

-Draw 50 pictures

-Transcribe my fiction writing notes to computer format

-Start a movie review blog

-Revive my old death metal project

Will he meet these wicked demands? Find out next week!
