Three plus One equals Four
April 3, 2012, Tuesday, Day 3 ~ 30-Day Blogging Challenge prompt is "Tell us about your siblings: How many sisters and brothers in order and tell us a story of you and your siblings. If you don't have any siblings of your own, tell us about some siblings in your life."

I have two full brothers and a full sister plus a half-sister, which none of us has met yet. I say yet because there is always hope of meeting her at some point in the future. I would like to meet my half sister and now to my other three siblings.

My sister and I fought when we were younger. I am not sure how close we are now. I enjoy having my sister around, but she an I have very little in common. Our common interest parted ways long ago, so now the only things we have in common are genetics. As long as Mom is alive, I expect my sister and I will see each other about once a month or so. Writing this makes me sad, but that is how it is between my sister and me.

I receive a text every day from one of my brothers. He is a preacher and he sends my other brother and me a spiritual text every day. I enjoy reading it and sometimes it inspires me to write a poem or two. My other brother does not write, call, e-mail, or text me on a regular basis. My sister sends a check once a month to help with Mom.

As I write this, I realize that my sibling and I have very little in common. In fact, the only thing that we do have in common is our mother (our father died several years ago). When we were growing up, we had a lot in common. When we were growing up, we went to church every Sunday, we believed in God, and had the same religion.

It is different now. My sister and I do not discuss religion, I suspect from some of the comments that she has made that she is an atheist. One of my brother’s is Jewish. The other, the one that is the preacher, is a Christian. My mother and I are Baha’is. I do not know anything about my half-sister.
