Monday, June 4, 2012, Day 4 ~ 30-Day Blogging Challenge prompt is "Mind Over Matter. Earl can't concentrate when it's too hot. What effects your concentration? Got any concentration tips?" Matter over mind Distractions are abundant My thoughts running wild What effects my concentration? Pain! When my hyperacidity acts up and my stomach causes me excruciating pain, I can’t concentrate. I can’t sit in front of a computer. I can’t sit up at all. I have to lye down in the fetal position and wait for the pain to pass. Eventually, the pain passes and I can either sleep or get up and do some work. What effects my concentration? Listening for my mother! Sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night crying. Sometimes she wakes up calling my name. Sometimes she wakes up saying “Somebody please help me!” At these times, I get up from the computer and go into her room to see what is upsetting her. At these times, I either try to convince her to go back to sleep or give her a pill for agitation; depending on what she is saying when I get into her room. What effects my concentration? Weird noses coming from outside the house! This is usually a quiet neighborhood, but not always. Sometimes I hear gunshots echoing from outside my immediate neighborhood. The problem with echoing gunshots is that I can never determine the precise direction and what is even scarier is hearing gunshots without hearing any sirens. Tips to help concentration. Sleep! Sometimes a goodnight’s sleep helps. At least it would, if I could get a goodnight’s sleep. Unfortunately, keeping one ear alert for my mother’s voice doesn’t encourage a goodnight’s sleep. Tips to help concentration, when my stomach hurts a mixture of soda and concentrated milk! This usually helps the pain in my stomach, especially if I drink it before lying down in the fetal position. Tips to help concentration. A prayer book and cell phone help with the weird noise! I make sure my cell phone is close by incase some of those weird noise are in my yard. The next thing I do is open my prayer book and say prayers of protection. Under no circumstances do I go into either my front yard or my backyard in the middle of the night to investigate weird noises.
