Day, Month #, 2012 ~ 30-Day Blogging Challenge prompt is blog about ANY experience of your life in two parts (it must be 1 experience, 2 parts) I like the surreal experience idea because that is how having a knee-high bandage on my left leg for the past five months has felt. The problem with my legs concerns the veins, which the doctors and nurses call venous problems and I call venous. My left leg weeping There were sores and the skin red And the leg swollen This issue began in late 2011 before my Medicare kicked in. I didn’t have any medical insurance, so I had to go to a sliding fee clinic. Anyway, the doctor and I presumed the issue was something else. To make a long story short or a short story long (depending on your point of view), I didn’t have a much money to spend on doctors and the more questions I ask the more specialist I had to see and the more it cost. My left leg swelling I hid it beneath long skirts Topical medication did not work When my Medicare kicked in, in January, I went to a different doctor. She sent me to the wound hospital and a vein specialist. At the wound hospital, a doctor put a knee-high bandage on my left leg and told me to have it changed in one week. The RN who put the bandage on, explained that the bandage they used would stink if it got wet. I never want to take a sponge bath again as long as I live. In January, February, March, April, and May I took sponge baths. This is surreal experience part 1 and tomorrow will be surreal experience part 2.
