Starting to blog again--an attempt to organize my daily routine

Is it Roofs or Rooves?

I know if it's the plural of hoof, it becomes hooves, right? At this point I don't trust my brain. The logic didn't hold. It didn't look right when I typed it, but I sent the e-mail with a simple word spelled wrong. Argh, I majored in English.

The correct plural of roof is roofs.

I'm sure this is newws to nobody but me. Live and learn. Guess I never had the need for the word before. I had trouble with another word when the seats were stolen out of my car years ago. There was not one listing in the Houston, Texas phone book for apolstery. I couldn't understand it. Then later it came to me that the a sound stands for other letters than a. My lack of genius sometimes amazes me.

I'm getting a new roof, starting at 7:00 am tomorrow. This is insurance covered, luckily, and several houses in the neighborhood have roofers around working. The hail damage we had last month put a lot of people to work.

My Mom keeps saying the noise will drive me and my pets crazy. I've never been in a reroofed house before. They've got to use a nail gun instead of hammer and nails. It can't be that bad, I hope. I wonder where my ear plugs are. I used to have some.

The puppy is still waking me up twice during the night, mostly chewing on me. It hurts. Last night I came up with a new rule--no dogs on the bed. He didn't understand. I don't remember who fell asleep first from the encounter. I'm fortunate to usually be able to sleep in, but I expect to be up shortly before 7:00 am tomorrow. It'll be a whole new routine, to have an entire day. Maybe I'll edit my manuscript! I've got a bad case of writer's edit block.
