Tuesday, August 21, 2012 ~ Day 21 of the 30-Day Blogging Challenge prompt is "Explain what you would do if someone asked you to write a biography of your life (however long or short it may be right now)." I would agree to a biography under certain conditions. I want my struggles as a caregiver documented because it will help others going through similar situations. I want the reason I became a Baha’i documented because it reveal the spiritual side of my existence. However, there are certain periods in my life that I do not care to discuss with anyone because, with the exception of God, those periods are no one else’s business. My opinion of the majority of tell all biographies (especially those written during the person’s life by the person or a ghostwriter consulting with the person) is that they are the written equivalent of plastic surgery. They enhance or embellish the parts of a person’s life that the person was unhappy with or did not like. The parts of my life that made me unhappy, I prefer to keep to myself unless they reveal lessons learned about life or me and then I want to be as honest as humanly possible. Being a caregiver is stressful and I am always happy with the situation. However, I have learned a great deal through the experience. I do not mind discussing the stress and the lessons learned. I also want people to know why I became a Baha’i; I will discuss that part of my life.
