Her own idenity!
Hello Sunshine,
Last night was my daughters first homecoming dance. She didn't get asked out by a boy but she went with a group of girl friends. She was kind enough to ask me along to dinner. I suppose she wanted me to pay and I wasn't the only mom!
I think I am the parent of one very rare gem.
All the girls were very pretty and dressed in wonderful frilly and often very sexy dresses. It was the night for glitz and glamor. It was an amazing contrast against my petite girl. In fact, I couldn't believe how her simple black and lace dress was such a contrast with everyone else's.
She really didn't look like anyone else and she was so comfortable being herself! She made me feel so proud that she can dress the way she wants. That she doesn't have to conform to the group or the "high school" pressure. I hope to God she can keep her unique identity and continue to express her individual self.
I wonder if she realizes just how powerful and amazing that is for a 14 year old girl?
