Thanksgiving or giving thanks?

There was a big private Thanksgiving dinner here last night. I didn't go. Seemed normal to be on the outside. Been many years since I really had a Thanksgiving dinner to attend or give... I think it was 2003 in Oklahoma. Dinner with unknown people just doesn't count.

But I have much to be thankful for. My nerves are calming down. I haven't overspent myself in spite of having to buy a new phone. My physical health is hanging in there (I'm still not so sure about my mental state).

And I scored two wonderful leftover desserts today from last night's dinner!

Yesterday I went to the Lankester botanical gardens just east of Cartago. I try to visit every time I'm in Costa Rica. This time I noted that the Japanese garden has been worked on and in general the other gardens appear to be better maintained as well.

Took lots of photos of orchids.

The day was cloudy, rainy, foggy. summer will be here soon though. If the rain holds off today my washed clothes will dry. Today is a "down" day. Need to contact Alberth about what's planned next and rearrange my backpack.

That issue will be resolved by filling up a box and leaving it at Sam's, Alberth's or Johnny's. I must travel lighter. And must figure this out a.s.a.p. to make the rest of the visit more enjoyable.

Today is Day 10 out of 85. Have only visited Perez Zeledon and Orosi but that's okay. After the hysteria of the first week it will hopefully calm down.

Peter's 30th birthday was day before yesterday. So easy to forget things... mustn't.

As for other friends and family, I'm sure they'll be fine. Have spoken with Gare, my mother, my aunt, Myrt, Nick from here. I'll try to contact others as well. Internet will be one issue ...whether anyone answers the phone anymore will be the other.

Sara just came by with more desserts. I didn't tell her I want to lose more weight.
