NaNo last minute Horsestory
The below is a provisional translation of a story in Dutch, being my first language. It's rather unpolished, though, given the expected lack of quality, it may not matter all that much.*Bigsmile*

NaNo horse story ...

The last day of Nano has arrived and I don't even have 1500 words, I must at least try to squeeze a few more words in there.

Thus here starts a trashy horse story, so that NaNo may still be a bit of NaNo!

A protagonist at a trot- or racing stable, riding-stables or stud.

Stud! We can immediately picture a nice mansion and some romance with it. * gg *

Protagonist: nice, female name, not too long and not too fussy or too posh.

Emma? Amber (mwah) Iris?

And then?

Emma is a horse-girl with talent and good looks and is chartered by the stable boss to ride his horses (for free, of course.) He slowly hands more and more responsibilities to her. In the end it can be said that she alone runs the whole stable, but gets very little in return and she also has to try to keep the hands of the stable boss off her, without hurting his pride too much.

The horses, the stable, the customers become her life and she moves in to a small studio at the complex.
She is in love with someone and Frank minds, trying to manipulate the situation and threatens her boyfriend, in a subtle but unmistakable manner.
Yet Frank knows that he can not do without Emma, so the situation doesn't get out of hand.

Now there are two obvious options:
-the 'penny-variant ': Frank dies in a car accident and, oh miracle, the stables etc are left (willed?) to Emma. Kind of happy ending story.

-the, more mature, conflict-variant: Emma gets resigned to being used, that she has no future in this way, and struggles 'free' from the horses and the stable in a laborious process. What happens to the stable, herself, Frank?

When she complains (and announces her departure?), Frank says to Emma  "You're not doing it for me, you're doing it for the horses." "So, ultimately I do it for you. You know that very well, Frank.” Frank walks away angrily and slams the door "The shit of those bitches always! "
