Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills. |
...do something else. Me: Been very nice this past week so a deluge last night wasn't a problem. Rain this morning hampered my plans but it's clearing at 1 pm. On rainy days? Do something else! I'm on the internet ... duh ... Spoke to my mom and a friend in Montana. Changed from Hotel Spencer (which I liked: great bed, dark-at-night, private room, clean, nice people, $16, on the sea-wall, sloths) to the Shangrila hostel: (internet, coffee, $9, shared room, next to bus station, howler monkeys). So far I'd recommend either. Cahuita is more chill than Puerto Viejo (a more aggressive crowd) and more lively than Manzanillo (only a couple restaurants). I could've left today but reminded myself to slow down. I don't get much done on a travel day or if I do I pay for it the next day. Today is "Day 29 in Paradise" Good thing I know better! Yesterday had to go back to Manzanillo to pick up my camera's battery charger I'd left. But ...got to see Bryan, Sandy and Amanda again and connected with Amanda on Facebook. They've all stayed at Shangrila too... Ate a rice-and-beans in Puerto Viejo and headed back. But for some reason I was tired and needed to take a nap. The day before I went walking along Playa Negra and today I'd hoped to walk Playa Blanca... still might. People: from Turin in Italy, Stuttgart and München in Germany. María (the meat lady) and Wendy (who sells smoothies) are also nice. Other than folks wanting to sell me weed ... and even they have been polite. Pets: Blanquita (small white dog) and her puppy Mió (a tabby kitten) at Spencer's. Here Scoobydoo (a big brown dog, duh) Wow! A chill breeze! After the rain it cools down a bit. Well, I'm off... 38.709 |
