Day 8: Ice Fishing
Where this goes,
I know not where;
can't pretend, or begin to care.
Who planted this tree,
I know not whom;
just wish it were wider, and I had more room.
What's under this ice,
I know not what;
it's freezing though, and the wind can cut.
Why do I hear bubbled chirping,
I know not how;
I'm much too cold to think on it now.
When did I fish out a baby bird,
I didn't catch the time;
his beak is wet with my worm's slime.
How did this happen?
I know not,
but now I must save him, I'm all he's got.
---------------------------
Prompts: ice fishing for baby birds and cresting waves on the shoreline
-------------------
Style: Attempted free verse, but made myself use questions who, where, what when, why, and how; also 2nd and 3rd lines had to rhyme.
