NaPoWriMo--Day 10

KOA Naples, Florida

When I grow up, whenever that is,
I will live in a gnome-sized trailer
on a sliver of coarse Florida scrub grass.
I will grow sweet basil, spicy oregano,
and fragrant mints in purple pots
placed under an oak with Spanish moss.
I will wear raggedy Obama t-shirts,
resoled Birkenstocks, and a baseball cap
studded with pins from Writing.com.
I will sit zazen and chair a book club
devoted to erotica, though we will not read
"Fifty Shades of Gray".
I will spend the retirement money on
Trader Joe's "three buck chuck",
but splurge on artisanal cheeses.
When the grandkids come
I will bounce their babies
on my titanium knees
and smile when they say,
"I hope I'm like this, when I grow up,
whenever that is".
