War Chest Wednesday: "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" prompt for May 1, 2013 - What does spring mean to you? Recount one of your most fond springtime memories. What is the meaning of spring? I listen to the nightingale sing; I watch tree limbs change from brown to green; I listen for baby birds chirping; Spring is the renewals of life; Spring is the rebirth of hope; Spring is nature's New Year; And then I remember the springs of my childhood. My childhood memories are a collage of water skiing, of swimming, of family vacations, of picnicking, of barbecuing, of weekend with my grandparents, of drive-in movies, of watching the late show on television, of half remember echoes of my father's laughter, of ... How can I chose a favorite memory, when they are all precious and bring a smile to my face? Some of my favorite memories occurred on the weekends spent at Lake Blackwell, when we water skied, took boat rides, and fished with Grandpa. Those weekends when we planted or weeded the garden by the mobile home on the Lake and Grandma made lemon aid, or Cool aid, or ice tea. How do I chose a favorite memory when the collage of my memories merge into a technicolor movie of joy at the mobile home on the Lake. Thought of the Season: “It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.” ― Rainer Maria Rilke |
