The May 17, 2013 prompt for "Blogging Circle of Friends Prompt Forum" is What’s the most significant secret you’ve ever kept? Did the truth ever come out? Truth or Consequences is more the just a city in southern New Mexico1 or an America game show2. Truth or consequences is what happens when you attempt to keep a secret of any type, especially one that is shared by more then one person. A secret remains a secret as long as only one person knows it otherwise it become either a rumor or common knowledge. If it is a significant secret then, even if it is known to only one person, it should not be kept because there are emotional consequences to keeping it and, when it is finally told, there are other consequences that must be confronted. Have I ever kept a significant secret? The answer to that question is "Yes" because I am still dealing with the emotional consequences of keeping the secret. Am I willing to share that secret in this blog? I wrote about it in an entry in one of my earlier blogs or at least mentioned the secret. At this time, I do not want to write more about it in this blog until I have dealt with it in my offline journal or discussed it with a psychologist. I need to get my thoughts straight concerning this secret before I can write more about it in this blog. I think the best way to do that is to write a letter to a dead person or persons in my offline journal. After that, I will either request a referral to a psychologist or find a support group dealing with the same issue. Since I am having good results with my mourners support group, I believe I will find a support group dealing with this subject rather then discussing it one on one with a psychologist. I have written some poems about it, so I need to find those and consider posting them in this blog. I can deal better with significant secrets by writing poems about them rather then prose. I think it is because emotions come out better in poems then in prose. Confess your secrets to the Lord, who already knows or write them in a letter to the dead before proclaiming them to the world. Look within and learn why you kept the secret before proclaiming it to the world. Thought of the Day on Secrets: “Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” - C.G. Jung Footnotes |
