Birthday Poetry Contest

The September 2, 2013 prompt for "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS"  is
Write a persuasive blog post about a contest or activity going on during WDC birthday week.

"Invalid Item"  is a creative and fun contest. Each day, for 13 days, constants write poems using the prompt words. The poems are a maximum of 40 lines, but it is not necessary to post the poem's line count. The poem can be written in any form, rating, or genre.

Entering this contest helps poet, of any skill level, develop his or her craft because the poem must be written within a twenty-four hour period. Writing poems this way helps the poet focus on the form, subject, and word choice. Because the poem must be written in a short time, the poet can focus on writing the poem.

I have entered two poems in this contest. A limerick titled "Sylvia's Thirteenth Birthday Present"  and a free verse poem titled "The Aftermath of Prayer" .
