Poor Carmela had gone hours without food. Mama had said she'd be right back. If it hadn't been for the rain she'd be dead from thirst. But now she was more wet and miserable than ever. Suddenly, a brushing then a swaying of leaves. Adrenaline shot through her veins as Mama appeared, tired, but alive.
