Twisted Promise

He sits silent now,
Abandoned and rusting,
The weeds growing talle and
he hides in the mist.

He gave them what they asked for,
the excitement and fear all at once.
They came from all around
to enjoy his thrills and drama.

He gloried in their attention,
he took more chances,
and played on their fear and insecurities.
He would give them something they had never had before
Truth, and a hint at death.

With every ride he came closer
to honoring his promise
until one day,
he gave them what they asked for
but would always deny.

Death

But his bravado and pride had soured,
And they turned their backs
He was all he promised them he would be
And for that,

He is alone.
He is forgotten.
Surrounded by weeds
And hidden in the mist.
