Carly Fleischmann. Autism, tracking, intelligence...
There are times when human stupidity seems to know no bounds.

Why do we, or some of us at least, not see common sense angles to things, hide away in our misery and keep a strangle hold on all the attributes preventing vital change?

It's fear. FEAR. Fear that keeps us bound up in chains of pride, stubbornness and a refusal to listen to anything else.

Introduce Carly Fleishchmann, the young lady who has severe Autism, could not communicate at all, and was considered not much better than a vegetable.

Yet, just a few years ago stunned the world, when she sat down at a Laptop in her parent's house and wrote the words "Pain" and "Hurt". Before this, she had never indicated any type of communication, because she couldn't. She changed and still is changing how people percieve Autism and the sufferers of it.

But not everyone is willing to listen it seems. Parents! I'm one myself. Why is it that sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees.

You can read what Carly has to say in the link below, and she's also on Facebook, but to summarise it, she advocates tracking devices for children with Autism so that when, not if, they wander off, they can be traced before they die. It's that simple.

But there are parent's of sufferers who are opposed to this, saying that the devices could be used by Police or someone else, to track the children. Perhaps they are also worried about pedophiles. That's understandable. Imagine if a network of these charmers got hold of the list of devices.

Well, Carly has quite a bit to say in defence of the legistation becoming law, and it seems to be all positive to me. The Big Brother issue is quite simply not the problem, and as far as I can see, there would be no more risk of tracking the children than todays trend of everyone having a mobile phone. They can be tracked, and some (iphones and more?) have functions whereby we can voluntarily BE tracked.

So, why are these parents so opposed to the devices that may save their child's life? I don't have the answer to that, but it's interesting to read the comments below Carly's article.

She is an amazing person, and a browse on youtube brings up a few documentary style videos about her life. About her intelligence, her humour, her beauty. Yes, I think she has a special beauty, especially with her strength of character. There is something unimaginably heart wrenching to think that there are many many more children like this, and adults no doubt, who are trapped in a body and cannot express anything.

And we think they are stupid. Doctors think they are stupid.

With all the technical aspects of writing, grammar, spelling and what not, reading something as powerful as Carly's outreach to us, is a most gratifying experience.

It's a bit like this blog. It's my mind speaking to your mind through the medium of electricity across vast distances.

Well, reader, which ever one you are that reads this odd sort of blog, Hello. Pleased to meet you. How's your head today? It feels ok to me. Because I'm in there with you. And your in mine.

Sort of disturbing. Especially writers' minds. Ewww. Even Carly has now joined the band of weird odd bods.
