She grabbed the duffel bag
as they held each other tight.
They had both dreaded this day
and now it was here.

The world leaders wanted this war
why not let them duke it out instead
of tearing lives apart? When it was all
said and done, who won really?

They had a nice Valentines Day with a glass
of wine and a toast to the future with warm
embraces and kisses and a night to remember.
The train was loading and it was time to go.

I love you they said to each other.
I will be home soon. Take care of our baby girl.
She blew him a kiss and grabbed her duffel bag.
In this day and age, women go to war.

She boarded the train and tear drops fell.
She was a pilot and now wished she wasn't.
She was going to war and she hoped time was on her side.
His love and their baby would see her through this war.
