Forgetfulness a writers scourge?

I have arrived at a conclusion.

Our lives are only as long as our short and long term memory.
And probably just short term.

If you can't recall anything from ten minutes ago, then anything else is useless. It's sad. Your life is only ten minutes in effective length.

For a writer, this would be the end. For anyone else, the same I guess. No quality of life, and having to be cared for by a close relative, most likely, and for them it's no doubt a living hell.

Saw this, this morning.

My son told me about a sobering link;
