Ablution

Picked pieces of my heart
from beneath nails
chewed to the quick.
Rinsed lifeblood indented circle
from annulary -- digitalis displacement:
out foxed, gloves removed.
Sponge salty now, but tears cleanse.
Moldy-green debris drains,
as broken promises
and shredded vows
are disposed.
Drying my hands on a prayer,
I dance away.
