Tucked Away




Tucked away in darkness
wrapped in cellophane to ward off the damp-
hair-trap set: I'll know if anyone's been near.
Locks are worthless;
a bobby pin and fifteen seconds
and I could read Sissy's diary.
Worthless more because I can't tell
or they'd all know what I did.
What she did.
What she is, wouldn't matter,
I'd still be in trouble.
No one'll find mine,
tucked away, tucked away.
She can't look, no one else knows.
Wrapped in cellophane; a warden to keep in the damp.
To trap the curious; hair-trigger;
I'll hear if anyone else comes near.
But they won't.
She's tucked away, tucked away.
