Split second
of existence: small history preserved.
Head thrown back in laughter,
a tear about to fall:
ecstatic, now static,
still speaks volumes.
A drop of water earthen bound
suspended indefinitely
reflecting a world
within a world
no mere eye could have ever seen.
A blink, a shutter,
and I have a piece
of a heart or a soul:
it is mine to share or not.
A spark, momentary flash:
another moment in the treasury.
Stark white and black,
more shadows of grey
than any negative,
varying shades of sepia parchment,
or vivid explosion of chromaticity:
I seize and freeze a moment out of time
in razor sharp acuity
or, perhaps, have instead, a blur,
a movement captured, in essence,
but of what:
I may never know.
