SPOILER ALERT I just finished (except for the Epilogue, I will finish that tomorrow) the third book in the Divergent series, Allegiant. As an avid reader of todays young adult fiction literature, I was pleasantly shocked with the author's decision to off the major character. I mean, wow. Bold and beautiful. I loved Tobias/Four's decision to off his mother the chance and she took him up on it withOUT erasing anything. I loved how she touched on insanity and how it can not be fixed with hope and positive thinking. True evil probably cannot even be fixed with memory serum..... Evil like that is fairly incarnate/innate. I love how Tris was able to see the fear in her brother's eyes. For her sake I pray he makes something of himself in this lengthy epilogue. I love the end message. I was slightly disappointed in the beginning because of all the recurring themes...but I get why this series has been overshadowed by the Hunger Games. The message is less flashy but much more impactful. Powerful stuff.... |
