Each day in Feb 2015 I will choose a song to write about |
So Young-The Corrs The Corrs are an Irish band that combine rock with traditional Celtic Irish folk themes in their music. This song, So Young was released in October 1998, the band had to fight with their label at first to get it included in the album, Talk on Corners, and it was included based on the popularity of the song. The song is written by Sharon Corrs who wrote this about her parents Jean and Gerry Corr; she believed them to be forever young. I remember listening to this song in my earlier twenties and loving the powerful lilts and expression that the words convey here. Yeah
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah In the first verse there is expression living life every day through desire and not being uptight or worry about things, enjoying life to fullest each day as it comes. And
it really doesn't matter that we don't eat This song continues to say that sleeping and eating are not important as long as we are ‘running wild and free’ and continue to live each day in this way makes us feel young. Being young makes us feel like we can do anything. And
it really doesn't matter that we don't eat This last verse is repeating over again what has already been said in emotional lilts with highs and lows in the Irish Celtic Rock style which is always very soothing and I can feel the vibrations of the music through my body. The reason I have fell in love with this song is because the way the words are sung and the flow of the music makes me feel free and young as well. A perfect combination to get myself feeling like I can do anything. I was listening to this song in a period of my life when I was deciding what to do. At the time I was just working at different part time jobs and not really heading in any direction at all, it felt I was just existing. Listening to this song helped to realize that there are so many things to do in this world and all I have to do is decide what I want to do and go do it. I then started making some changes and I still of course hit some bumps along the way although I started to live life in a better way. |
