Lost Things

Prompt: What is the worst thing you ever lost? Did you end up finding it?

I lost dolls, furniture, and a lot of items in a house fire 14 years ago but I saved a lot of things and started over. I guess I came out even.

This may sound strange but my job place says they want my vaccination records since where I work at, well some of the facilities, want our vaccination records against measles. I think mine got burned up in the fire. I will have to go back 50 years to contact the Arizona Air Force Base where I got them. Mom asked Dad when I was on the phone with her and Dad hit the ceiling. Mom and Dad got in an argument because Dad was in England when I was born and I met him eighteen months later and I got vaccinated when I was 2 years old instead of 6 months old. Grandma wouldn't let Mom have me vaccinated. That was a big fight once upon a time and Dad is still mad over it. He is the one who had me get my vaccinations. He was mad at Grandma and Mom and still is 50 some years later! Dad doesn't get past things easily. My company I work for said since my place doesn't have children at our facility, they won't need our vaccination records at this time. If they ask again, I will have them call my Dad and he can yell at them!

I lost 6 days of my life after extensive bowel surgery and being on a breathing tube. I can never get those days back! Maybe if I would have been okay and at home, watching TV and cleaning house, well I am still missing 6 days. Losing those are worth then losing possessions. There you have it. I hope one part made you laugh and another part makes you appreciate life.
