The Window

The window looks out
across fragrant window-box herbs
as morning sunbeams dance
through crystal panes
to reflect
off chrome faucets.

The window watches
the sun and humanity pass
while it locks out the cold
of approaching night,
but not the laughter
of the rising moon.
