Lazy Suicide
2-16-08

With each passing year
insecurity fades a little more.
All that we have left now
we know is safe for sure.
The days may be lonely
but it's not the end.
No matter where we end up
(no          matter          where          we          end          up)
we know we can call each other friends
(we'll          call          each          other          friends).

There is no train
at the end of your tunnel.
I won't put my fist
inside your funnel.
Just know that your brief descriptions
won't tell the whole story
when you leave out the details.
They weren't supposed to have sadder endings.

I won't leave your side.
I won't watch your lazy suicide.
You can't change my mind.
You can change your mind;
         I won't watch you die.

Maybe it's our maturity
or the overlooked fact that in some ways
you mean more to me
than I ever thought. It's ok.
If all that I'm saying is wrong,
you can play deaf and I'll play dumb.
But if these words bounce between your ears
I won't say a thing when you bite my tongue.

I won't leave your side.
I won't watch your lazy suicide.
You can't change my mind.
You can change your mind;
         I won't watch you die.
         I won't watch you die.

You're not pretending
behind those bottles.
You're not fooling anyone.
Yeah we all got problems.
You're not pretending
inside the needles.
You're not fooling us.
We all feel the need to be needed...you're not pretending
(you're          not          pretending)
outside your life;
only inside your head.
Why can't you do what's right?
         I won't leave your side.
         I won't watch your lazy suicide.
         You can't change my mind
         (change          my          mind).
         You can change your mind;
         I won't watch you die
         (watch          you          die).
         I won't watch you die.

With each passing year
insecurity fades a little more.
All that we have left now
we know is safe and secure.
The days aren't so lonely
and no longer without end.
No matter where we end up
we know who we have for friends.
