Path to Freedom
Tears. My own.





Ordinarily, as a man, this is a subject I would prefer not to talk about — even to know about. But a great insight has come to me recently.





I have recently been reaching beyond my accustomed place in life. Progress has been stalled for years, and I have had no clue as to what held me back. I know that what I have put my attention to I have achieved - with varying levels of speed and success, but still. In these things, I have failed to hold my attention long enough to even make any progress, and I could not say why.





When a dream dies, really gets laid to rest, one grieves. In time, it becomes painless — until disturbed.





But when I unearth what I want and need once again, the result is as bewildering as it is predictable. Sadness, tears - the involuntary cry for help despite there being no one there. Had it been easy to tolerate, or had there been a reasonable path to victory, they would not have been buried in the first place.





Until recently, I took this to be an error on the part of my current self. So I refused to seek out old yearnings. Without thinking of what I so dearly wanted, and painfully buried, how can any progress ever be made?





So, be prepared. Before you can restore an old quest to life, you may have to encounter the sadness and despair that you have locked away with them. Expect this sadness to be in proportion to what you have to gain.





But don't worry... no matter how deeply buried, your dreams are still alive, somewhere. Or if not, they can be reborn into a newer, stronger form!
