Day 53: Grisilde begins to tell her story
It was better to be regarded as a god than a monster, I guessed.
“Please rise, you three. My name is Draco. As I have said, I have seen your lives, but I want you to tell me of them. What are your stories? What caused you to turn to what your villagers call “witchcraft,” and who taught it to you?
Grisylde answered first, in a quavering voice. “Mighty Draco, please pardon our summoning you, but we will be your servants. We have difficult lives in our village. My family was killed by ruffians in a raid when I was very young. I have been pushed from family to family ever since, and no man would have me for a wife because I was seen as having no worth.
