Masquerade Ball
By Lisa Noe*Cat2*

I sit watching the goings on at the masquerade ball, wondering which of my fellow guests has killed Jeff. Jeff was a dear friend of mine and I want to get to the bottom of this. He was bludgeoned to death with a candlestick holder. I have my doubts about a few of these characters. They all have a motive, because Jeff was the big winner of the Writing competition, being held a writing.com. As a winner he received the most coveted merit badge of them all as well as a million or so gift points. All of these guests would like to get their greedy little hands all of his winnings. I will question them all but my strongest suspicion is with Thing. I believe he may be the guilty party, as he strikes me as the one who wants the points the most.
There are seven people I must question. I will assign each of them a number and question them according to their number, from one to seven; one being Thing, since my strongest suspicion is of him.

“Where were you last evening when we all retired for bed?”

“I was alone in my room, I went to sleep early,”

“Can anyone attest to that?”

“No, I went straight to bed after dinner.”

I left him for now to question other guests, I gathered the guests together in the dinning room, which is where the body of Jeff was found bludgeoned.

“I called you all here today to get to the bottom of where each one of us were during last evening’s shocking discovery of Jeff’s body. Number two, where were you?”

“ I was with number three we visited the library where we read for a few hours and then we went to bed.”

“Number three is that correct?”

“yeah, we were together until bedtime, about eleven thirty, last night we then went to bed.”

“Number four where were you?”

“Numbers six and five and I were watching television until twelve midnight.”

“And number seven, that’s me, I was the one who found the body this morning at around nine AM
Everyone except for number one has a witness about where they were. Number one or shall I call you Thing, I believe you are the only one that could have done it! I will have the fingerprints sent out and then we will no with out a shadow of a doubt.”

“Just because no one saw me last night don’t mean it was me, for all we know it could have been you number seven or shall I say Arakun the twisted raccoon.”

“Why that’s preposterous! Why on earth would I kill Jeff, he was my dear friend.”

“Well who’s to say he wasn’t my friend too. And I did not do it,”

“Fingerprints won’t lie. I’ve dusted and I think we all already know that it is you Thing.”

“Well, I needed that merit badge and I also needed the gift points, because my membership is about to expire.”

“So I was right it was you, Thing.”

“Yeah it was me all right, what’s gonna happen to me?”

“You’re gonna go to jail for murder. I hope you have learned your lesson from this murder and thievery will only get you into trouble, now look you’ve gained nothing and you’ve lost your freedom and poor Jeff has lost his life. Was it worth it?”

“No! I would give anything if I could take it back.”

“Well you can’t once a person is dead they’re dead it’s not make believe man.”
