Day 27 - Outline Revision #4 & Chronological Timeline
Tuesday, Oct. 27
*Required: Outline Revision #4 â–¼
The fourth draft of your outline.
*Bullet* Using traditional outline format (Traditional Outline ): flesh out the logistics of how your protagonist gets from the beginning of the story to the climax of the story. Add more timeline details and consider plotting out scenes by chapter.
*Bullet* The Snowflake Method : Using your synopsis, list the scenes needed to create your novel. Each scene should include the POV character and the action.
*Bonus: Chronological Timeline â–¼
Add a chronological timeline to your revised outline, using whatever measure of time is appropriate in your story. See this example composed by JK Rowling while outlining one of her famous Harry Potter novels.
I have been doing both of these is Scrivener. A new idea is to add a subplot that follows Carson in snapshots to let the reader know what he is doing. This will allow me to get into his head a bit without having him talk to Taygen... that would be out of character for him.
It follows his doings.
It follows how Cheryl screws him by getting pregnant... and possibly letting out the fact that she calls Taygen to say she has been with Carson and is pregnant with his child.
It lets me get to Carson's inner world - his regrets of having treated Taygen badly and his loss of her.
Even one of his friends that he has stayed with on occasion has tried to get him to reconsider Taygen over the summer. He and his girlfriend invited them out to dinner and to go play pool.
"You were happy with her, I'd say."
"Yeah, well that's done."
